In 2006, I cut my teeth on news features that could make a difference. In this piece, I wrote about a woman who just wanted a place where her grandson could play. It was published in The Daphne Bulletin, a small weekly that made great strides in journalism from 2006-2011. The Alabama Press Association awarded it Best News Feature (3rd Place) a year later.
